Did you happen to read the title of this blog? “One of the best 24 hours of my life!” This one was very captivating so I just had to share it with all of you. I have not had a “best 24 hours” in all my life – I can account for up to about 15 hours and call it the best but whew! 24 … WOW. Let’s see why this was one of the best, this is a guest review from a Trip Advisor user who was recently a guest at Ian Anderson Caves Branch.
“I arrived with sister and nephew at 5 pm-ish on Saturday evening to warm smiles, helpful staff (Eugene is exceptional) and icy cold towels scented with lavender and an offer of rum/fruit punch (thx Dylan) – BEFORE we even checked in! We were comfortably seated and did orientation/check in, and taken on a short "hike" to our lodging for the night – BEAUTIFUL Tree House No. 21!”
“My luck began. Sister snagged the main floor and I "got" the top floor bedroom with king bed and deck tub …more on that anon.
We came down with eager anticipation to the family style dining room to chips and salsa and a cold one at 6 pm. Starters were served promptly at 6.30 and was a deelish warm cauliflour soup and warm fresh housemade dinner rolls, plus garden salad and cold slaw with apples and raisins….YUM. Main course was a nice Shepherd's Pie and an awsome huuuge baked whole black snapper, and steamed veg with coconut rice. Dessert was yummy bread pudding and Cheesecake.
I rolled my way back to my room after some Tia Maria coffee liqueur, and filled my deck tub with warmish water and had a lovely soak under a gazillion stars!! TRULY SPECTACULAR – after which I slept like a blissful baby under the spell of 2 fans and snuggled under a lovely duvet.
Morning – and up early with the birds. NO sunlight coming directly into room despite screens. Hills and the North/South orientation of the cabin guaranteed this. I watched clouds and birds, and read peacefully until BREAKFAST at 8.
Break fast was an event!!!! Heavenly local yogurt, fresh fruit and fixins' – and then, the WORKS. ASK for fried jacks – they are made to order!!”
“Then for a day of sploring, pool lounging, river visits, cheese rooms demo, soap room demo and enjoying the grounds! Lunch was a lovely quesadilla and we were stuffed again.
We left just before 5, vowing to return -again, and again, and again – and not to be so lazy next time!!”
