In recent years, Belize has become a popular vacation spot for celebrities. Everyone ranging from the Trump daughters to top Hollywood stars such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Francis Ford Coppola have been spotted in the country. And now, Kate Del Castillo, "La Reina del Sur", has arrived in Belize.
Kate del Castillo is a popular Mexican actress known for her roles in various soap operas and a strange online relationship with Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera, but it was her lead role in the hit movie La Reina del Sol that made her an international celebrity. Kate del Castillo played the role of Teresa Mendoza, a young Mexican woman who claws her way up to become the most powerful drug trafficker in Spain. According to rumors, Kate is in now in Belize in order to shoot some scenes for a sequel movie, La Reina Del Sol 2.
Sharp-eyed celebrity spotters saw Kate del Castillo in the village of Succotz in western Belize. According to inside sources, she's going to be filming scenes at the ancient Maya site of Xunantunich. Kate del Castillo, who has a large fanbase in Belize, paused to take a selfie with the Belize customs officer who welcomed her into the country on July 9, 2018.
Caves Branch Tour Guide Carlos Hernandez
Kate del Castillo is also scheduled to shoot a few scenes with Carlos Hernandez, a certified bird guide and expert naturalist. Hernandez, who has been working for Caves Branch Jungle Lodge for the past 19 years, will be exercising his acting chops in the scenes being filmed at Xunantunich as he was selected to audition for the role of a bodyguard for a drug lord in the upcoming La Reina Del Sol 2 movie.
After the shooting wraps, Kate del Castillo is heartily encouraged to visit Caves Branch Jungle Lodge and stay at one of the Ian Anderson's Luxury Tree Houses. These elegant, two-story tree houses offer a full range of luxurious comforts, including a screened-in porch from which to admire the scenery, a private bath with hot/cold running water, electricity, and a soaker tub.
Although Carlos Hernandez's role in the upcoming movie is expected to be minor, Caves Branch Jungle Lodge is honored to have one of their most experienced guides be chosen to appear. When not working as an actor, Carlos leads bird watching and nature adventures for guests of the Lodge.
