Belize has always been a country where the locals like to have fun and enjoy the simpler pleasures in life, so it’s no surprise that Belize will be the first in the world to hold a nationwidegame of hide and seek.
Starting on November 12, 2018, and running until November 18, 2018, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) will be organizing and sponsoring this first–ever nationwide hide and seek game. The way the game will be played is that the BTB will randomly select four volunteers to be the “Hiders” and a fifth person to be the “Seeker.” The Hiders can choose a location anywhere in the country, including deep in the jungle or on one of the more than 450 offshore islands.
The Seekers, with help from a guide who can dispense clues, will have just one week to find the four Hiders. Regardless of how many Hiders the Seeker successfully discovers before time runs out, all five participants will enjoy a delightful, all-expenses-paid trip to Belize courtesy of the BTB.
“Belize is a country of astounding beauty and sometimes child-like innocence,” said Karen Bevans, the BTB’s director of tourism. “And we hope that this game of hide and seek will awaken a child-like curiosity for the players. Belize is a small country, so it’s the perfect place to enjoy this classic children’s game on a nationwide scale.”
Anyone interested in playing this historic nationwide game of hide and seek must send an email to “hideandseekbelize@gmail.com” with either “Hider” or “Seeker” in the subject line before October 8, 2018. Participants must be at least 18 years old and reside in the United States.
