Belize Adventure Vacations in November: Weather, Places to Visit & Activities

November might be a month of increasingly cold nights across Canada and the United States, but the average daytime high in Belize is a beautiful and sunny 84 degrees Fahrenheit (29 Celsius). The clear blue skies, balmy temperatures, and exciting festivals going on throughout the month of November make it the perfect time to visit.

On your November vacation in Belize, you can enjoy activities such as:

Garifuna Settlement Day

November 19 is a national holiday that celebrates the arrival of the Garifuna to the shores of Belize more than two centuries ago. Beginning with a dawn re-enactment of canoes hitting the beach in places like Dangriga and Hopkins, Garifuna Settlement Day is a time to celebrate all things Garifuna, including street dancing, drumming, and lots of delicious foods.

The Garifuna are an Afro-Caribbean people who fled the island of St. Vincent in the Caribbean after a failed uprising against the British. The Garifuna were recognized by the United Nations in 2001 for their intangible contributions to the heritage of humanity.

Caves Branch Botanical Gardens

The largest botanical gardens in the country, this slice of natural paradise is home to hundreds of different kinds of orchids, beautiful flowering plants, and an indescribably heady perfume. An excellent introduction to the flora of Belize as well as a chance to see fruits and other plants growing in their natural environment.

Ancient Maya Ruins

Belize was once the beating heart of the ancient Maya civilization, and there are more ancient Maya sites in Belize than anywhere else on the planet. Visitors can tour colossal cities rising up from the jungle such as Caracol, Xunantunich, or Lamanai or tour unique ruins such as Cahal Pech that were built exclusively for Maya elites and nobles.

ATM Cave

Rated by the Discovery Channel as the #1 Sacred Cave in the world, Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Cave lay undisturbed for more than 1,000 years before it was accidentally rediscovered in the 1980s. Today, visitors can explore this lost underground world that was once used by ancient Maya priests to conduct bloody human sacrifices.

Cave Tubing

A must-do activity for every visitor to Belize, cave tubing refers to using an inflatable inner tube or small canoe to explore vast underground rivers that flow through the country’s network of caves.
