Southwest Now Flying from Fort Lauderdale to Belize

Beginning on June 4, 2017, Southwest Airlines is now operating non-stop flights from the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport (FLL) to Belize City (BZE). Considering that American Airlines has been offering non-stop flights from the nearby Miami (MIA) airport to Belize City, Southwest's entry into this red hot travel market is expected to drastically lower air fares, making it easier and more affordable than ever for Americans to vacation in Belize. Currently, published fares to Belize start as low as $79 per segment.

The new Fort-Lauderdale to Belize City is Southwest's third non-stop flight to Belize. Beginning in 2015, Southwest has been operating non-stop flights to Belize City from its hub at Houston's Hobby Airport (HOU). And Southwest has already been flying non-stop to Belize City from Denver (DIA), a seasonal route that began in March 2017. According to travel experts at Tropic Air, the Belizean domestic air carrier, the new routes will help travelers in major cities on the east coast of the United States more easily reach the Central American nation of Belize.

Once a little-known former British colony, Belize is now one of the top vacation destinations in the region. All four of the biggest airlines in the United States, United, Delta, American Airlines, and Southwest all offer non-stop service to Belize from major cities across the country. Canadians too have benefited from recent entries into the lucrative travel market with both WestJet and Air Canada now offering non-stop flights to Belize City from Toronto.

The new Fort-Lauderdale to Belize City route takes just two hours and 15 minutes to reach Belize, a small country on the Caribbean coast located just south of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Despite it's relatively small size, Belize is a natural wonderland of hundreds of tropical islands, white sand beaches, pristine rainforests, waterfalls, savannah, fertile plains, and thick jungle teeming with more than 500 species of birds.

Caves Branch Lodge in Belize's eco-tourism Cayo District is one of the top jungle resorts in the country. Visitors coming in from Fort Lauderdale or other destinations can enjoy five-star luxury living in one of the Caves Branch signature tree houses perched some 200 feet above the scenic Caves Branch Valley. Each tree house has two stories, including an open-air tub with an unobstructed view of lush jungle and exotic wildlife.

Our sale team also organizes tours to some of the top destinations in the country, including ancient Maya ruinscave tubing, zip lining, and exploring the bounty of nature in Belize.
