Belize Airport

Belize Airport

Most of the time, when people refer to the “Belize Airport,” they’re talking about the Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (PGIA/BZE) because all international flights into Belize land at this airport.

Technically speaking, the “Belize Airport” is located in Ladyville, approximately nine miles north of Belize City, although many people refer to it as the Belize City international airport. Be aware that there is a second airport near Belize City often called the “Municipal Airport” although officially, it is known as the Sir Barry Bowen Municipal Airport (TZA) and only handles domestic traffic.

The Philip Goldson Airport has overnight parking available at 18 BZD per night. Be aware that all non-nationals leaving the country must pay a departure tax of $56 that must be paid, in cash, in American currency only.

The Philip Goldson Airport has non-stop connections to cities across North and Central America:

  • Calgary, Alberta
  • Charlotte, North Carolina

The international airport is named after Philip Stanley Goldson, a prominent journalist, activist, and politician who founded both of the major political parties in the country (PUP and UDP respectively).
